Hi there. First time chicken owner here with five chicks mixed breed from a local reputable hatchery. They are 16 days old.

Our favorite little chick, Wobbles, is losing weight and sleeping a lot of the time, making high pitched trilling chirps and all in all not doing well. She has lost at least five grams in the last day or two. She was thriving several days ago. Poops are dark green with white and sometimes look like they have mucus. She has still been eating and and drinking but she is the first to lie down and the last to get up. I have been supplementing with raw egg yolk and have had probiotics and electrolytes in the water for a week. I just started Corid in the water yesterday just in case.

Her breathing seems more rapid or labored than the others but she is not panting or opening her mouth or sneezing. No discharge from eyes or anything. Her crop is mostly empty because she is not eating much. No pasty butt. Vent is clean.

Today she is moving strangely. Stays put when I set her on the floor. When she does move she uses her wings to steady herself and immediately plops down. Doesn’t look natural or like her old self. None of the other chicks are showing symptoms.

Brooder is in our bathroom. We run the vent fan for ventilation. Pine shavings and basic chick starter food. I change their water at least three times a day. Thermometer says warmest spot is upper 88.

Any thoughts on how I can help this poor girl?

I'm sorry to hear about your chick.
It could be vitamin deficiency or failure to thrive, sometimes there's something wrong internally with the chick and it keeps them from growing.
Be sure not to give the corid and the electrolyte mix at the same time, the b vitamins will cancel out the corid.

Thank you. I have NutriDrench coming via Amazon today. Since none of the other chicks are symptomatic, is it better to assume she has a vitamin deficiency and start treating her with NutriDrench? She can’t even really move around now. Her legs are very weak and she is using her wings for balance.

I also noticed that she has a fair amount of feathers missing on the side of her neck and shoulder. Yet I don’t see the others pecking at her. What could this be?
