This year we decided to pick up a few chicks to expand the flock. The kids are super excited and so far we haven’t had an issue we just noticed a spot on a 1 week old road island blue. There is no pecking happening.

Can someone look and let me know what you think the bump might be?

Thanks in advance

Could be an air sac. They are part of birds' respiratory system. They can become inflamed/enlarged, or burst, causing them to look unusual in size.

What happens if they burst???
They can burst from trauma (the chick falls or is dropped from too high), infection, or other damage. When they burst, the air leaks out of them and is trapped under the skin, looking kinda like the lump on your chick - like an air pocket under the skin. Usually the problem resolves itself over time, but if it doesn’t, you can release the air with a syringe with a clean needle. If that doesn’t help or the lump re-inflates after being deflated, the problem may be more serious and would require a vet.

Wow.
I bought some chicks in February, and my baby brother stole one from the brooder, and accidentally dropped it. She ended up passing. I wonder if that had anything to do with it?

It’s possible. Baby chicks are resilient, but they are also fragile. I dropped a very squirmy chick once while trying to give it medication, and the fall burst an air sac that produced a large bubble of air under the skin. The chick died a few days later, and I’ll never know if it was from the aftermath of the fall, or the ailment that required medication in the first place (wry neck).
