Hello, last Saturday I got my first baby chicks. One chick got pecked in her bum by multiple chicks. I don’t know what happed first, them pecking or injury on her butt. I’ve separated her in the same brooder. She’s been in her own area since last Sunday. Her bum doesn’t seem having blood anymore since I’ve been taking care about it during this days. But her bum is completely lacking hair. I tried to reintroduce her to the others yesterday but she got pecked again by two of them and I put her back into her own area. Do they peck because of her naked bum? I put ointment with blue food dye but it seems didn’t work. Could you tell me what else can I do, please? How bad is it for her to be separated like this from the others? I was told about blu-kote, but read some mixed reviews that the alcohol in it might damage her skin. Thank you everyone who replies.

Is she separate but together? Meaning separated only by hardware cloth but they can see and hear each other, etc. ? To me there is "away from" separate and there is safe separate but together.... Hopefully you get the point as that's much better for her/them until she's healed. The pecking does have to stop and if blue kote works over something like triple antibiotic creme, it's worth a try. But again, it's not going to change until she's well. Do you have pics?

Thank you for your respond. I also apologize for posting twice. I am not sure how it happened. She is separated in the same brooder by a mesh. They can see and hear each other. Yes, I totally understand she can’t be with them right now. This is the chick with no hair and the brooder
