One of my chicks hatched today (day 20) and its belly button is not completely closed. There is a small opening about the size of a tip on the end of a pen. Will it be okay? Anything i need to do to help it. It is acting normal chirping and looking around.

It normally seals up just fine on its own. If you have non-pain-relieving Neosporin, you can dab just a bit on, but they heal really fast.

I have one that hatched on day 22 which is today and it's belly is not closed yet either so should I do the same thing or what thanks

Ok thanks it don't look as bad as I thought once he broke off the umbilical cord it looks not as big or anything I will try and keep it clean and he is the only one hatched so far so I don't think it will be to much of a trouble keeping him away from other chicks right now

I've left them in the bator before in a shallow Tupperware dish with a paper towel on the bottom.

Honestly, it's easy! Clean, warm and confined!! Plus if you have other eggs ready to hatch, the already hatched baby will cheep and it encourages the others.

Ok but I don't know about the bowl I think I am just going to let him in there for tomarrow and then he is going in the brooder maybe midday or afternoon
