So this is my first hatching and I have done nothing but read and watch videos on how to do this... I thought I could handle it but nope.... the baby has been pushing its way out for about 12 hours now I just went to check on them and she has pushed out of her shell I went to take it out but it is still way attached and lots of bloody veins big ones too going to the belly plead tell me she won't die I don't know what to do.... she is still breathing though not peeping right now looks more like resting.
:fl

I got the bleeding to stop but it looks like to me like the intestine are protruding a little bit. I have read post about this happening but not to sure what to do...... please respond please help... does anyone know what's going on?

I'm not sure whats happening with it but all I can say is that if it is going to survive, whatever you say is protruding needs to stay moist, don't touch it with your bare hands though, that could cause an infection or something. See if you can get a spray bottle and fill it with warm water, the temp needs to be just right, it can't be too hot as it could burn the chick but if it's too cold it can send it into shock, make sure what ever it is doesn't dry up. Hopefully it is able to draw in whatever is hanging out.

P.S here is a link you can read through, I don't know if you should do any of the things they say as the situations are different. They are talking about cockatiels but I would guess it is the same for a lot of birds. Good Luck

Well it looks just like the yolk in the pic.... it says that it could be fixed life or death thing not sure if I'm ready for this but I'm going to try. First to tie it off to get the shell off at this point it seems to be doing more harm than good.... I will keep you updated. Thanks so much for the advice

So I tied it off with a string cut it off with sterile scissors ( alcohol ) and got the egg off... all the blood had been absorbed before doing this but now that the weight of the egg is off the chick it seems to be absorbing the yolk. Keeping an eye on it to make sure that the string doesn't get absorbed too. Not sure what to do if it happens... :hu all new to this

String fell off and the baby is alive and well
