Hi there,

This is a 2 day old Belgium d’Uccle who can’t walk properly and never has its head in the right position, looks like it always does in the photo.
Handy thoughts as to what is wrong and if anything can be done?

Thanks

Try some vitamins, it looks like it may be deficient. You can get Chick saver and add to water or you can try Poly vi sol (without iron). Make sure the feed is at least 20% a bit higher would be better.
Poly vi sol you can get at the pharmacy and Chick saver at a farm store - good luck and keep us posted. :)

Appears to have 'wry neck'. Poly vi sol will help. Some folks have had good results with treating wry neck but I never had a chick recover from the symptom.

I would treat with a vitamin that contains thiamine, E, and selenium. Some chicks may require a lot more of the vitamin E such as 400 IU. Poultry NutriDrench or Poultry Cell have the vitamins that can treat wry neck. Some type so f wry neck are thiamine deficiency, while some may be from vitamin E.

Thank you everybody. When I checked on the chick this morning, it’s neck was looking normal but I think I’ll still get it the vitamin E, if you all think that’s a good idea?

I would just use some Poultry NutriDrench a drop or two daily for a few days. It has some E in it. You don’t want to use too much E if it is not showing those symptoms anymore. E is fat soluble, so giving too much without a need might be harmful.

Sorry for your loss, you tried hard. Many times we never know why, so try to take some comfort in knowing that you tried your best :hugs
