My last chick hatched today and has green goo on his butt, is this pasty butt?
If so do I need to wash it off?

I have seen that on my chicks before...I think it is what's left of the placenta? I know in dogs it is green lol. I have also had them take a little poop while still hatching. I would leave it and let it come off on its own.

It's not pasty-butt, that happens when they are up and walking, and the poop collects on the bum, dries, and blocks them from being able to go any more.

Not trying to be a smarty but.....chicks don't have a placenta. They get their nourishment from the yolk which is absorbed totally during the hatching process. Pasty butt happens when a chick is to cold. If your hatch is over just use a Q-tip with warm water on it and gently remove it. It probably is just poo.

it's okay, it's normal. it will dry up and fall off just wait :) no need to worry
the green stuff is poop it made when it was still in the shell.
