Baby chick lost it’s leg to raccoon or cat

Our 4 day old baby chick had its leg bitten off this morning (possibly from raccoon reaching in somewhere) It is still alive and does not have any bleeding. It was eating and drinking this afternoon, but had some trouble getting around. We treated the wound as best as we could to prevent infection. My question is whether or not the chick will be able to fully function on its own and have some sort of quality of life or if keeping it alive is going to be worse for the chick.

I would see how it does in the next couple days or week. If it’s eating and drinking fine then it’ll thrive. If it’s not then it won’t thrive and will eventually give up wanting to survive.

I would weigh it daily to make sure it’s gaining weight and not losing it.

It doesn’t need to be a house chicken. It can learn to adapt if it has the will to learn.

I wouldn't say that not thriving means it won't survive. I have a bird that isn't necessarily thriving, but she's happy and surviving just fine
