I purchased 6 chicks Sunday, and one chick was born not long before I got it. Once I got them home, they mainly wanted to get warm and nap. Yesterday, Monday, they were all eating and drinking fine, except the one newborn. I have seen it drink a lot, so no problem there. However, I have not seen it eat, and I cannot feel food in it's crop. I have tried "pecking" at the food with my finger, and it is seeing the others eat, but it has no interest. I tried mixing a little in water too, but it had no interest in it. It seems like it just does not know what food is. I doesn't appear to be sick or unhealthy, just not eating.

Any ideas? Suggestions? Thanks!

The baby chick might be really tired...try seperating the newborn chick from the others and put a food dish with the newborn for a few minutes...the other chicks might be scaring away the newborn or the newbornn could feel intimidated. Hope it works!!!

.You could also try feeding it mushed hard boiled eggs but if it just hatched it probably still has the yolk in its bellie and is just not hungry it might not be hungry for up to two days after hatching
