First time chick owner… I got six baby chicks no more than a few days old yesterday and noticed one of my sapphire gems but had a bunch of Hard dried poop stuck to his rear end. I took a warm washcloth and some soap and gently removed the dried Poo, And realized his vent seems protruding? My other five chicks rear ends are completely fluffed covered without a protruding vent. My little guy is also missing a bunch of rear end feathers, possibly from him pecking at it. He is my smallest chick, but seems to be eating just fine and moving around well like the others. Any advice or info would be appreciated, thank you so much!

Hi we're you able to resolve and if how so? My 5 day old chick is the same way. Separated him with another chick due to one of the 6 chicks pecking on his bum. I applied cleaned it and out neosporin. But seems that after doing that, he started pecking himself and got worse. Please help

Yes, this issue actually resolved fairly quickly. I gently washed her bum with warm soapy water and gently warm blow dried her dry, then applied neosporin on her backside for a few days. Thankfully the others didn’t try to peck at her. She definitely didn’t like the ointment on her backside and kept messing with it. But a feel days and she kept looking better and better.
I appreciate all the feedback

Thanks for the quick response. Good to know it's doing better. Did you give it anything to help it poop. I noticed that it's also having some hard time. The vent is not blocked it's the same as your picture, but I see when it tries to poop nothing comes out.

No, mine didn’t have any issue pooping. The neosporin was supposed to help protect any of her skin that might have gotten damaged when trying to get the poop off initially and also somewhat of a lubricant. Wish I had more advice for you!
