Baby Chick Pictures!!!!! POST!

Oh good, now they have settled in the loud peeper has stopped. But our little dorking is still a little awkward. Since I load a video I'll try to explain best I can.
She stumbles and wobbles a lot left to right and looks like she might fall but doesn't. She doesn't move very far at once though before giving up. Her legs and feet look fine, and she doesn't seem to be having any other problems.
They do have bedding, shavings, I did put newspaper in the very bottom to make clean up easier, but a good three inches of shavings on top to avoid it being slick. They have one side of the brooder at almost 100F. With the other side being less so they can move out of the heat if needed.

Sussex are descended from Dorkings and I know if one gets the protein too high in Sussex they fall over. Then reducing the protein cures it. But I don't know if this holds true for Dorkings. Honestly, if it were me, I would contact Joseph at Yellow House Farm, and ask him. He is one of the premier Dorking Breeders in America and a real nice guy. Encyclopedic about the breed. They have a website.

Thanks so much for the info. I will keep his contact info for sure. Right now we're keeping an eye on her as she just arrived today this afternoon so the trip may be to blame.

My golden retriever, Lucy, seems to have a great deal of interest (also gentle, respect) for our new babies. She sleeps by their brooder at night :)

She's actually ahead of everyone, including a sexlink, although she's still smallest overall. And she has tail and shoulder prickles that you might not be able to see.

I opened the pop door for them today and they're super excited to have more to explore. The chick run is 3'x8' and all hardware cloth so they're quite safe. I've just never done it so early but now that I've switched to a mama heating pad rather than a light, they can sleep/rest draft-free even though the door is open (their cave faces away from the pop door). So glad I decided to try something new!

Here's my 4 babies. In this pic they are about 2 weeks. (RIR, Black Sexlink, Buff Orpington and Domineque) They are about 4-5 weeks old now. Will take updated pics of them asap.
