Baby Chick Pictures!!!!! POST!

tiffmw10, what kind of chickens are those? I bought a chick at 2 weeks old and it looks just like them. The guy selling it didn't know what kind it was, but I bought it anyway.

Where did you buy your chick? I've noticed that the feed stores, where I ordered my last 6 are so much more knowledgable than the hardware stores (where I bought these). I had to ask several people before they knew their hatch dates.

These are Buff Orphingtons and RIR's and they were all born on April 7. They are really starting to feather out and trying to fly around their Brooder. I have 6 more coming tomorrow which include 3 Leghorns. I've never had those, so I'm a little nervous ;) I need to get their brooder ready tonight.

I hope mine is a buff Orpington. I wanted to buy some of those this year, but when I ordered, they were out. I would have waited for 3 more weeks. I couldn't do it.

I got 15 Golden Buff (Red Comets) straight run and 4 RIR. I've never had either, so its a journey. My other chickens were Barred Rock, but they got killed by dogs. Now I have these chicks, one barred rock chick (from those killed) the unknown chick (HOPE ITS BUFF ORPINGTON) a Black Australorp Rooster, 2 australorp hens and two hens of an undetermined lineage.

These Buff Orphingtons are so sweet and I'm surprised at how friendly my RIR are as well. I hope they stay that way. We handle them a lot, so I hope that makes a difference. I really wanted Golden Comets, but my hubby wanted white eggs, so that's why we got the Leghorns. I'm looking for other white laying breeds that are good with children and not skiddish or flighty.

Ok so this may be dangerous. I just found out there's a hatchery an hour away from me. Lol!

Dangerous, yes! Lol!

I am trying so hard to stay within my means right now (regarding chickens) that I am very grateful that I don't have easy access to chicks. Be strong!

EE is a easter egger basically a mutt that lays a colored egg..usually an ameracauna bred with something else, and if you put a maran roo over EE hend you get OE's olive eggers.
