Baby Chick Pictures!!!!! POST!

So we went to a small town festival today and they had show chickens. I've already started making my list of new breeds. Saw some beautiful birds. A silver laced wyandotte is at the top of my list and a polish or silkie splash is at the top of my son's.

We have white crested black polish and splash cochin LF.
At first the polish were rather aggressive until a cat took hold of the largest rooster (they were only a few months old at the time).
When he was killed it was as if we had stepped into another flock of polish they were calmer with very little aggression other than
towards the guineas who like to fly at the chickens (its funny to watch).
Our polish roos and some of the females get excited when evening comes around that's when we take the chairs into the large pin
sit and feed them white millet as a treat. They get up on our laps and most like to be pet.
Our cochin are very docile loving birds they always have been and once they got used to us being around they also hop on our laps
for their treats. I have one I call baby but now she is more recognized as the mooch, its like she pretends to pick at the feed on the floor
we toss then when we sit down she is the first up on our lap to get her treat and the last one to give up!
We love our little flock and wouldn't trade them for the world.

Your son has chosen great birds to add to his list!

10 out of 11 have hatched. Last one is still alive, just taking a little longer. I'll see about pics later, I just can't upload on this signal, because it kind of sucks and it would take a couple hours to do so.

One chick looks like a Sumatra with feathered feet... Actually, 3 look like Sumatras, but I haven't looked at the other two closely yet. They're now under the heat plate.

Congratulations!!! I hope you have fun with your little chickies and I am expecting some cute pics coming up?

Only pic I can upload right now. I have to return a movie to the store later, so I'll add more pics to my Kindle and use the WiFi at one of the restaurants to upload them.

for begginners, I would start with the silkies because they are easy to handle, people love them, and they are very sweet. Also, roosters dont fight real bad when put together. Polish should be for the more experienced because you have to take care of their crests and they are prone to mights worse than others. Sl wyandottes are also good birds to start with, but without much work, they are pretty skittish. Because they dont have all the fancy features of some fancy breeds, and are more like production birds, they are less prone to mites and keep themselves very clean.though, this varies on the environment they live in.

Each pic is a different chick. None are Easter eggers, one of my cockerels is a Cochin x d'Uccle mix that has a muff. So odds are he's the father of most of the chicks.
