I guess it was on the broody thread where I expressed concern this morning, but my hen finally got off the nest today and took the babies for a walk in the barn. She's being such a good momma. Here they are back in bed for the night.

A roo with two ladies and a BUNCH of babies!!

Hard to believe they can survive...we have so many predators here!

Yes we have mongoose, Hawks, cats, and dogs. But I'm sure it helps that she has a roo. Those boys can kick some mongoose butt

One at a time, all 6 girls got to come in for 15 minute stints. They will be 4 weeks old sunday. Got some great pics.....

One of my roosters keeping his babies warm in this freezing weather. He's such a good daddy. When they get chilled, they peep to him and he plops down into the straw so they can cuddle in under his wings. Who says mama has to be the one to take care of the kids!?

They are so cute. I have 5 SLW's and they are the most curious and affectionate of my bunch. They love to follow be around the pen making soft clucking sounds. You will really enjoy them. Oh, and they lay eggs really well too.

my very last batch had a black-Isbar I named her velvet. and on a cutest name page I saw a little black chick named black betty, my guess after that song.
