Oh my goodness this is my favorite thread I come here whenever I'm not in the best of moods and it cheers me up immediately. I love all your little featherbabies I want to cuddle them and give them itty bitty eskimo kisses on their tiny beaks they're so small

Are they good birdies? I'm looking for egg layers? Are these more of a meat bird or egg bird? Also, how are they with larger flocks with 18 birds?

Apparently they have a reputation for being poor layers, but I'm afraid I have no clue whether or not they're good in larger flocks... One review said they can be bullies to younger chickens in the flock, but they are very adaptable to new flocks as well. Some cochin owners said their hens laid about an egg a day, however they can be broody.

I just looked up Cochin! Very pretty birds! Does anyone have one that is older that looked like this as a baby!? I'm so excited. It's so exciting seeing the babies grow and assuming what they are all going to look like. I love being a chicken parent. I don't even feel like calling myself a chicken owner because I feel like the own me! Haha, but I really have found myself and it all started with getting chickens.
