Baby Chick Pictures!!!!! POST!

Little Nugget-- this is my heart chicken! Little NugNug is the chick that runs up first and keeps crawling into my hand to be held. She's a Columbian Rock

I have a feeling both of these are going to end up as roosters. Barred Rock and Columbian Rock -- The Barred is a bit of a jerk right now, running up and like double footing all the other chicks in the chest and pecking them. That's a big portion of why I'm expecting a cockerel out of this one:

I just like this pick of my assumed roo #2 on the right:

The coop! They are using their perches -- I fixed up and made the heat lamp more secure after this picture was taken. Next time we do the chicken heat pad hut!

I am loving the look of the red rock crosses now that they are feathering:

They grow so fast. So cute and fluffy. Still don't know whether we have hens or roos. Or which breeds we have. Lol! First time chicken mama. Went to tractor supply and got 3 each from last 4 bins they had. I felt bad picking from just one. I think we ended up with new Hampshire reds, silkies, and not quite sure of the 3 biggest.

Bottom right looks like a roo. The silkies are difficult to sex...will know fir sure if they crow or lay an egg!

They are such cuties! I love the scraggly feathers. My Barred Rock was kinda a bully for a couple of weeks. Now she is actually super friendly and has calmed down. So time will tell if you have a cockerel there, but you might just have a pullet going through a mean streak. Ours was just trying to establish her little place in the pecking order. So after her place was found, there was peace.

This makes me so happy to hear!! My other half has done chickens in the past and always put down the overly mean ones and I was really hoping this one wouldn't be a meat chicken experience for me! I am so shocked by the amount of attitude and was hoping it was jerk young chicken stuff. We have been calling her (him?) Jerk Chicken.. which goes with out theme "The Tartan Coop" off of a restaurant in my last city that was voted best wings on Vancouver Island -- so all the chickens are like "Buffalo" "Bleu" "Honey" "Garlic" "Peanut" after their sauces. 26 chicks in total! Yowza!

I also love this awkward gnarly in between time where they have the rough look as they are in-betweeners.
