My first time getting day old chicks! (I already have 6 adult hens that I acquired fully grown) super excited to raise some sweet little pet chickens!! I have just received 5.. I selected a variety of breeds.. One is a White Cochin (I opted for one male to help guard the girls), a Mille De Fleur d'Uccle Bantam, a White Crested Black Polish (I adore the one I was recently given after losing my favorite australorp hen), a Buff Laced Polish, an Easter Egger Bantam (I love the pale green eggs my EE lays.. So I'm hoping for bluish green ones from this girl when she's grown!) and I'm expecting 7 more (a mix of breeds including another Australorp because I loved my gentle sweetie who shall RIP)

Very cute!

I just put 11 older chicks out in a separate coop, heated.

these ate my new hatchers...

Jen (up front) white maran, and behind is Drizzel (blue isbar and frizzle)

below is Drucinda (blue isbar frizzle), Dolly, Madison (black copper marans), Jen and Drizzel.

Your Rico looks just like my Rusty! I wasn't sure if mine was a boy as he is so sweet! He loves to be held, loves attention. I have heard that roosters are mean and stand offish. I did good, I bought 8 chickens and only one turned out to be a cockerel. This is my first go at raising chickens, I still have so much to learn.

only thing you have to learn is:- nature knows best and not to worry
