Baby Chick Pictures!!!!! POST!

Here are some portraits of my babies!

I only have 6 babies but I snapped like over 40 images of them, I didn't have my son around to help so I was doing one at a time next time I will do them all together. We haven't named them yet except for the one Valentina she's the smallest one of them all which at first I was a little concerned but she is just as fiesty as the others.

My babies with my "babies". We took the brooder outside for the first time so the girls could scratch around and experience the environment that will be their permanent home. Of course, the kids couldn't leave them be. The chicks don't mind, they see people, including the kids as a source of treats.

They aren't really babies anymore, they are almost 6 weeks old. If you look carefully you can see the dirt flying as they dust bathe.

I have a question about my barred rock "hen" I'm starting to think she, is a he. Can anyone help? I really hope it's a hen, because if its not, I can't keep her! ):

I am new at this but as far as I have been told every breed grows and feathers differently. Even within the same breed they will feather differently. I have 2 wk old chicks and all of them are feathering out at a different rate. My BO are even different. I have been told there is really no way to tell at 2 wks. So hang in there for another 4 weeks. The Hatchery that I went through doesn't even want me to report until they are at least 16 weeks saying that some people get rid of their chickens thinking that they are roos when they are truely a pullet. I think I have some roos but its to early and just a guess. Hoping the best for you, I know I said that it could easily get rid of any roos that I get, but now I am so attached I don't know. Keep me up to date.
