When I first heard that RIR's have stripes like chipmunks when they are just chicks..I was quite surprised! But yes, they do have stripes. Here's a picture of my Heritage RIR's I hatch a couple of months ago.


The stripes go away..of course. Those are some cute babies you have.

I am a newbie... on March 9th I bought my first chicks... 9 of them. Buff Orpington; Rhode Island Red; Black Australorp; Wyandotte; Barred Rock... ages: 2 days and 9 days old when purchased.

we started with 6 buff orpringtons and 3 silver laced wyandottes they are about 9 weeks old now

And today we picked up 11 more buff orpingtons, 4 more silver laced wyandottes and 3 ameraucanas! The ameraucanas are 4 weeks, bo are 2 weeks and the wyandottes are 1 week! The newbies are currently living large in a baby pack n play in the living room!
