Here is my new Brood. Suppose to be all pullets, 4 Buff Orps, 2 RIR, and 2 Barred Rock. I think the rocks are actually Australorps, but that's ok.

Thought I would post an update. We wanted a few more chicks, so went to Shipton's in Billings and ended up with 1 Barred Rock, 1 Buff Orpington, 1 Black Sex Link, and 2 Mille Fleur Bantams.

The Barred Rock (no name yet):




The Buff Orpington (Brunhilde):



The 2 Mille Fleurs, now named Grendel and Beowulf. Grendel had a bad case of pasty butt, but seems to be over it. They are TINY.



And the Black Sex Link aka Smaug (the dragon from the Hobbit):



We were very happy that Shipton's had several varieties to chose from, and that we didn't have to wait for Tractor Supply's shipment to come in!

Do the Barred Rocks/aka Black Astrolorps look like our Barred Rock? I believe Barred Rocks have a white spot on top of their heads, and yours look like they have that.

thats what happened to me LOL we were going to have t wait until MAy 20th until the online hatchery had what we wanted....well went to TSC and got what we wanted tonight they are addictive...I started with ducks 2 weeks ago, my dinning room is going to be a barn if Ikeep this up, I have a brooder with 5 duckling (2/3 weeks old) and another brooker witch my 8 chicks who are only 4 days old lol

Adorable!! This pic has me questioning if my Red Star is truly a red star. Your chick (at least from the photo) looks like it has more red than mine.

I'm thinking your might be a RIR? does yours have lines down the back? 3 of mine have dark red lines down the back and one has white lines going down but all are red stars.
