Still a couple more on the way. 1 of them is trying to zip right now, praying that they all hatch! They all developed perfectly and at the same rate. All of the eggs in it now but possibly 1 egg were lively and moving around a lot last week.
it hadnt made much progress so we pulled the egg out and looked at it. The egg had dried as he was zipping and so we tried to help, we then saw that he was sticky and his yolk wasnt as absorbed as it should be and it was a very yucky green-brown color... definitely not the bright yellow it should be. So westarted helping him hatch, and the shell came right off, including his yolk? So we bathed him in warm water under the sink, with a tissue covering his yolk. After that, we blow dried him with iur "chicken-dryer" and put him back in the bator. His yolk never did absorb and he died. He wasnt completely dry, but since it was a polish, we could tell it was a boy by its crest. We felt bad, but thats yet another rooster that had problems in our house.
On another note, all of our eggs candled beautifully, but one possibly infertile dark egg that we couldnt tell. They were all lively and were definitely moving....but only 3 chicks + one chick that didnt make it hatched? Is there a logical reason why? We had the humidity at 60% .. like it should be? they are past due today, so we are going to crack them and see if they were sticky or shrinkwrapped.
this time, the only time we opened it was once, to move the chicks. Normally we open it every time a chick hatches, and we have no problem (unless one is currently hatching, in which case we wait)
