Well my coop has had some changes lately. Lost my Salmon Faverolles and replaced her with a Marans of some sort.

Did some remodeling of the girls coop and put them outside for the first time today. Oh my, they are loving it. Have the light up in the nesting side with one of their boxes (the one with the perch) so they have a toasty warm area for the night. They were hopping on and off of the big girls perch this afternoon. Seemed to enjoy running up and down the ladder too. Put treats downstairs but left water and food upstairs, will move everything down for the day tomorrow if the weather permits. I keep telling myself I WILL NOT go out in the middle of the night to check on them, we'll see.....I can hear their little knitting needles clicking away, I am sure they will be ready for the cold winter months. Thank you for your fun and informational comments. You are saying what I have been feeling all along, they need some time to adjust to being outside before it is even colder, so that is what I will start working on. I love the idea of putting something below the roost to keep the draft off their bottom sides, we have plenty of cardboard so should be able to come up with something. I think they will love being able to scratch around in the sandy dirt at the bottom of the coop and I know I am eager to watch them where they have more room to run around. Thank you, I love this site, everyone is so bird crazy and willing to share, I love hearing from you all and look forward to years of building online friendships with you guys.

My little ones run and play in their run then when they get thirsty they just shoot up into the coop and take a few drinks then run back down to rejoin the others.
