she may be a grown up bantam but she is beautiful. Her name is Princess but she passed away in 2012. She was the most amazing hen. she would literally purr when you stroked her and she would close her eyes. I hve also got a Muscovy called Willy who had a very strong bond with little princess. By the Way: If you didn't know a Muscovy is a duck cross goose originated from Mexico, Central and South America.
Fun Fact: They don't quack, they kind of huff.

Anyway Princess would just walk into the house and if you were sitting down she would jump on your lap and look at you and make these noises until you patted her. She once fell asleep on my bed. When she was having a tough time she would sit with you and roost. She would purr. She used to let me dress her up, and I even made her a little dressing room. I will never forget that beautiful little hen. Rest In Peace Princess xxxx

Our buff orpington, Sunshine, went broody again. This is her second brood, and her first time hatching out more than one egg. She had nine eggs, of which, six hatched, and five are thriving. (Number six needed help hatching, and turned out to be paralyzed. It passed away about a day after hatching.)

I'm not sure what everyone is a mix of, but one is a silkie mix, and another is a black copper marans mix. Most of them have some easter egger in their ancestry. Since they started hatching on Christmas day, they will all get yuletide names.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the coop, Anna the bantam cochin keeps her brood of three chicks warm.
Aww, cuteA!!!

yuletide names are funny. When I had my first child I said if it was a girl I wanted to name her Holly. My baby was due in May and my mother-in-law said "but that is a Christmas baby name." I ended up having a boy and named him "Tanner" Then a couple years later I had a baby girl and named her "Holly" at Christmas, but not because of Christmas. They are both grown up now. Tanner's one of those guys who looked like he had a tan even in winter, Holly was pale with berry red lips and a prickly personality. I Stopped at 2 but i had told hubby if I had a 3rd I would have named her "Thistle" another prickly name.
