Baby Chick Singing a New Song

Hi all,

I have a 6-day old ayam cemani chick that sings a little song at least once an hour, and it's one I've never heard before! Is it just a rooster doing very early rooster things? Did I hatch a songbird?

Check its butt ASAP. It sounds like it might have poop caked on it. They make a noise like that when they can't poop.

Okay, I think! They've still sang the song a couple times with a clear vent which I'm a little puzzled about but they are eating/drinking fine and otherwise acting normal. I'll keep an eye on it! Thanks, again.

Check your brooder temp. The brooder should be big enough for them to warm up at the heat source and then go play in the cooler zones. Too warm of a brooder causes them to drink more making loose turds that dry on fast in a warm brooder.

Thank you, Mountain Roost! Temperature seems good and they definitely have enough room to get away from the lamp if they are too warm. I've attached a pic of the brooder.

A couple days and we should be out of the pasty butt timeframe.
