I have 3 baby chicks that are about 3 weeks old. Up until last night all seemed to be doing fine, except one has been growing much slower than the others. She started to get listless and 'depressed' looking, standing in one spot with eyes closed and pretty much falling asleep standing. Then she wakes herself up when she nods off. Now she is not eating and will only drink if I dip her beak in water. I separated her from the rest and have her on electrolytes and probiotics in her water. I also tried feeding yogurt, egg yolk, and making a mash with her feed. She won't eat more than a TINY bit at a time. Her stool is a little bit runny but not always. The other chicks are thriving. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong? If anyone had any advice or thoughts please respond! Very worried.

I read in a few other threads that sometimes nutridrench can be effective? I may give that a shot, might be worth it for you too NYCmadness. Anyone else ever go through this or have suggestions?

OK update:
I separated the struggling chick from the rest, with her own food/water with electrolytes. Every hour or so I would go in and dip her beak in the water a few times to make sure she was at least getting fluids. She didn't want to eat, but I was able to get a few tiny pieces of egg yolks in by rubbing it gently against her beak. Turns out the others were keeping her away from the food/water - and I guess she was just getting weaker and weaker. After a night alone and some rest, she seems to be doing MUCH better today. She perked up and was pecking at some feed crumbles this morning.

NYCmadness, can you check and make sure your chick isn't experiencing the same thing? Are the other bullying her? Also since she's so young, she may not fully know where/how to get food and water yet. Try out my suggestions and hopefully it will help for yours too.

I think I will keep her separated until she gets her strength back and then try to carefully reintroduce her to the group.
