I just hatched my first shipped chicks heritage barred rocks and one chick was born with bent toes i was told this was due to inbreeding? I hope this is not the case as I won't be to happy. Input on this would be greatly appreciated

There's a good chance it's got a vitamin deficiency. Do a thread search on curled toes, and you'll get a million threads and another 1/2 a million things to try to correct it.

i had 1 with curled toes i splinted them and she also had a displayed hock tendon im correcting this shes a wk old on tues but is doing well

took the splints off toes are straight

What did you use for splints? I tried band aids, and tape, neither worked. I mean it corrected them a bit, but they still are crooked some. I just gave up cause it seems like the chicken is doing fine. It doesn't walk any different then the rest. I would imagine it just runs slower, and can't scratch as good as the others. It doesn't seem life threatening.

i used pipe cleaners and molded them into a w and used sergical tape to secure! left them on 4 days , then took them off and straight toes
