I got an order of chicks (hatchery surprise special) 3 weeks ago and noticed that one chick was smaller than the others and had strange legs. If I had to describe its posture, I would say similar to an Indian Runner duck. It had to run really fast to stay stable on its legs and stands straight up and down like a T-Rex. I continued caring for the chicks, and all are doing well. The little one is still smaller compared to the others. It is still an extremely fast runner compared to the others as well, but with more stability on its legs than at first. Still looks like a T-rex. The chick has a lot fewer feathers. At 3 weeks it only has its wing feathers and tail feathers, other than that, just chick fuzz. The other chicks are feathered all over with very little fuzz still showing. It seems to be eating, drinking, and socializing just fine. Energy levels are good. What could be going on with this little guy? Has anyone else had trouble like this?

Can you post a picture? It could simply boil down to a breed thing...

Either way, if its eating, drinking and running around, I wouldn't worry too much about it :)

Could you possible post a picture? It could be that since this was part of a surprise special you ended up with a breed that is like what you describe. Several of the oriental breeds have that stature (Saipan's, Malays, Shamos, etc.). If that is the case I am really jealous.
