I have 6 weeks old chickens. They have been raised with my 6 week old ducks. Today one of my baby ducks died due to a predator. My question is, does the duck need a new duck buddy or will it be okay just living with its chicken friends. They all have live together since they were born.

:welcome glad to have you join us, but so sorry about your loss:hugs. And hope you can keep the rest safe.

I have no duck experience, but IMO if a male - then he needs a female duck companion. If female, she may just think she's a chicken and do fine with the flock.

I would suggest you post the question under the Ducks forum to get experienced opines.

And hope you'll start a thread intro under the New Members forum to get a proper welcoming.

You will need another Duckling....Also if that is a Drake?....He will try and breed your Chickens and will kill them....Drakes have a Penis and Roosters do not...:th
You might need to consider a plan B and have separate pens for the two species....
