I have a very small breed hens in with my larger hens. My lil momma is hatching her babies do I seprerate the momma and babies and eggs from the rest of the hens and small rooster? I don't want momma or babies killed? First time Hatcher so I need HELP!

hey, i would put a cage around the momma and her babies until the rest of the eggs are hatched, if you have one. if not, i would just monitor her until all the chicks have hatched. then you can seperate them until the chicks are big enough to go back with the flock, if you'd like. i just had a bantam hen hatch 7 chicks, and she seems to be doing fine in my mixed flock. however, it's always good to take precautions. wish you and your new momma the best of luck !!

I agree with @bantamluv in that you should enclose her with a cage or chicken wire, or a dog crate if you can. Provide her with her own food and water and don't forget to let her out once a day for a break! She will protect her babies once they are hatched, and no hen would dare mess with a mama hen! ;) Good luck and let us know how it goes!
