Shade- my son when he was 3 years old, named our cat "Pokey", well in Hawaiian cat is Popoki. I thought it was funny that the first time Hawaiians saw a cat it probably came off a ship, and it was a ratty cat, and a sailor from the ship, saw it, and said..."Poor, poor, kitty." So the Hawaiians thought that is what they were called.
