It is also the most worry-free way to raise chicks.

Congratulations! My 2 EEs usually go broody at the beginning of summer, so I've got something to look forward to!

The eggs are from another hen from a farm up the road. I don't have a rooster so when she started to set, I got fertile eggs. She is the sweetest hen.

Henhaven - Your right, this is the most worry free way to raise chicks. I don't have to worry about a thing. It took some getting used to, but now I love it!

That is not only a cute picture of Mama Hen and her Chicks, It is also a good picture, as far as the shot itself. I think you should watermark and then enter it into a show or something. Very, very good!!! Those chicks are beautiful as is Mama:love

This is soooo cute! I was just telling DH that in the new coop he is building that we need a area for broodys and their chicks. I always end up taking the chicks cause I worry the other chickens will kill them.

That is a VERY good idea. Now that I have been through the process I wish I had a section all ready for her. I made a temperary one out of poultry wire but I made it a little late in the process. If you can section off a quite place for her it would be ideal.

As soon as her babies hatched though she was pacing at the enclosure to get out. She really wanted to take them out. So they were with the hens anyway. Although they did see the babies through the wire for 3 days. It was enough for the other hens to recognize them.
