Baby Chicks Settled In!

New babies arrived this morning! Family size box o chicken nuggets!! I was worried about them coming from the hatchery, but the hatchery did great and the post office was super fast!

Waterer attachment broke when I went to put it together, so I will be at the feed store when they open up this a.m. So far they seem to be doing all right with the tray part.

Did the morning rounds. Everybody looks happy and healthy. There is something about baby chicks that just makes you smile! Even my oldest daughter, who thinks I'm nuts, couldn't help but watch and smile at their antics. Them playing keep away with a piece of poop had us cracking up!

They don't really hurt each other often, just a lot of neck stretching and flying around. You are going to need a bigger brooder real soon with that many. More room equals less agression.

Right now they're not even using half the space they have. It's a lot bigger than it looks in the picture. If they outgrow that before its warm enough to put them outside then they can actually use the whole room. It's a decent sized pantry that we plan to convert to a grow room for my veggies come fall.

All of the chicks are still doing great. I can't believe how big they're getting! So glad I ran into BYC. If it wasn't for this website I never would have gotten into chickens.
