Its gotta be something in the air because this year alone ive hatched so many chicks with issues 4 crossbeaks and 4 with leg issues. Ive never hatched a crossbeak or leg issues before.

Picked up 2 turken and 2 isa browns about 10 days ago from TS and so far so good. They are happy and healthy.

I don't have an answer to Tractor supply sourced chicks.
But I do have a thought about FB postings.

It is a possibility, that some of the FB peeps are new in the chicken raising endeavor.
With eggs going up in price quite high, many think solution is to have your own chickens. This translates to "many novices"

I was talking to an employee at our local TSC and they said they’ve had lots of complaints this year. They got in 3 orders and each batch they said had a lot of customers coming back with dead chicks.

My experience with Tractor Supply and moldy feed this year both their brand and others brands they carry, has been horrible and this is 3 different store in my area. I've spent so much time the last 4 months returning feed to them it was crazy was always at least 1 bag contaminated. I was actually opening the bag in my car before even leaving because I was so sick of having to go back and return it. And 2 time I had to take feed back in. So I now buy all my feed through chewy and switch to all Kalmbach brand feed. So far no problems So maybe it's not the chicks themselves but bad feed. In my stores it's mostly younger people caring for the chicks and I dout they'd notice or catch moldy feed. Just a thought. Most the feed I had problems with was the crumble and scratch grains.

I strongly dislike people who know nothing about animals are given jobs that have to do with them!

One: They could care less and just want to get the job done.
Two: They know nothing about keeping animals.
Three: Why did they decide to work at a store that sells livestock?
Four: Whatever managers hired them should have asked if they have any experience with the animals they sell.
Five: and so much more.

Who here agrees that places like TSC should have hiring managers that ask this simple question:
“Do you know how to take care of livestock?”

My sister in law bought 5 chicks ( 1 for me) and we were waiting for 2 extra ( also 1 for me) She is very experienced with raising them. She got them all from an independent supplier. 2 of the 5 died within a week and one is sick so far. The other 2 we were waiting on never showed up to the supplier so she thinks they and the others they were shipped with died in transit. It is a weird year for chicken shopping. Ive been disappointed multiple times this year.

My chicks are all still alive and thriving. This Thursday will be 3 weeks since I bought them.
