Chicks take a lot of responsibility and take up time. They are naturally very clean animals and are open to many diseases if not properly taken care of. There are a couple of things you should watch for. When you get a feeder and something to put water in (forgot what it was called) you have to regularly have to clean it out. Young chicks poop in the food and tend to scratch at their food so you need one that has some holes along the sides that are made out of steel. You should also take in mind that chicks tend to get poop stuck to their bottom and if clogged it can kill the chicks, so you should check your chicks about every 3-4 hours.

If you have a good set up you don't have to work hard at all, Drinker and feeder a few feet a way from the bedding, cup or nipple drinker, and safe and dry place, either an electric hen or a broody hen. now I have 5 chicks with their mother, they are 2 weeks old, they only thing I do is to clean their bedding and fill the feeder once every few days
I don't check their vents at all
I have a cup drinker connected to 50 litre water butt and vertical nipple drinkers as "backup".
