My baby chicks are about four weeks old and we moved them into a pen in the chicken coop that has three older chickens a week ago, and I don't know if I can take them out of the little pen into the actual chicken coop because the big chickens can fly in there already so can I let them roam around the chicken coop yet or not.

Welcome to BYC!

It is best not to mix in babies with older birds until the babies are about the same size as the adults as the babies can get hurt. Not always, but it is not worth the risk. I would keep them separate but in the same coop as the adult birds for about one more month. Everybody sees, no body touches. The babies will grow enough, and by then the older birds will not have the tendency to be aggressive toward the new flock mates. But always keep the babies in view of the older birds. Now, if you have the older birds out in the run or out to free range, you can let the babies out to explore. But be careful with mixing these babies just yet.

Good luck with your new babies and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask! Welcome to our flock!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Good luck with your baby chicks! TwoCrows gave you some good advice, it is best to wait until the chicks are about the same size and then introduce them gradually. There is a nice article in the Learning Center on combining flocks, with different ways of doing so (after the quarantine section). https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/adding-to-your-flock
