Hi all - We had a Cayuga hen go broody (is it broody for ducks?) and decided to let her sit on the nest. We've had chickens do the same but they always get bored after a couple of weeks. Anyhow, woke up yesterday morning to a duckling! We've brooded ducks ourselves, but haven't had any raised"naturally" by the mama. What do we need to do? Will the hen take care of feeding? Provide chick starter? I assume they need to be separated, but she's still sitting on about 8 eggs in the coop so I'm hesitant to move them. Any advice is much appreciated!
...Sometimes other Ducks will kill the babies..
...Other times it works out great....
