So cute. In my experience the duck has abandoned the chicks or just doesn't let them live.

So far everything has been going well with my duck raising her chick. When momma gets in the pool dad watches the baby. It's been 4 days now

The chick being raised by the duck is doing very well. She's a great momma. I will note that the only time I took the baby was we had a terrible downpour of rain and my ducks love the rain. So I did go check everyone after this heavy rain. The chick was absolutely soaked so I brought it In and put it under heat lamp for maybe 10-15 minutes till it fluffed up. Another crazy thing is the baby does get in the kiddy pool with Mom and swims around. I put rocks on the pool sides so it can jump out. I've only seen it in there twice.

Just a little update on these two. Chick will be 5 months old December 19th. I gave up the idea that chick would roost with the chickens. She's a duck Momma duck is still super protective and doesn't ever allow her to hang with the riff raff (other chickens). Maybe one day they'll part ways but I'm done trying to force it.
