Baby Duckies!! Brooder questions

There are many options with feed. For ducklings and goslings I like the Manna Pro duckling and gosling feed for their first 3 weeks and then ween them off to a lower protein feed around 16 pct. For waterers I make these for mine and they work great.
Hey y'all we are getting ducklings from Meyer hatchery in about two weeks! We currently have chicks in the brooder but they'll be moved out by the time the ducks get here. This isn't our first experience owning ducks (we have several that we bought as adults) but it IS our first time brooding waterfowl and undoubtedly some things are going to be different from raising chicks. I've heard that duckies are messier and require a different type of waterer (one they can dunk their whole head in so they can clean out their nares) but is anything else different? What would you recommend for feed? Anything else about general brooding that is different?

Thanks in advance for your advice and info!

They are definitely a mess with the water. I make these. Shallow and just enough to dip their bills. You see the water is orange because I have some on the way too and added electrolytes to the water. For feed I use the manna pro duckling and gosling feed for new arrivals for the first 2 weeks and then mix it with a 16 pct protein feed ( I use Kalmbach maintenance feed) for the waterers I keep cutting more out as they grow so they can dip their heads but they can’t fit in totally that they could drown. Hope this helps. Best of luck with your babies!

Thank you! This is helpful. Is the Manna Pro stuff something I could get from a feed store or would I have to buy it online?

thats a good idea! (And always, of course, make sure you see the ducks drink it, and know thats where water is. You wouldnt want them not knowing where the water is and get dehydrated.)
