I am so sad we just got two ducklings a few days ago which are only about 9 days old. My 6 year old was sitting done and handed one to a friend when my daughter stood up the friend let the duckling go and my daughter stepped on! The ducking kicked around in circles for a little neck down. When we picked up we just held of awhile one eye was closed. We put him back in cage with other and is eating playing and sleeping but his beak turned a little purple (was pink) Just checked and the purple seems to be going away. But I am scared we are going to wake up to something worse. Could he make a full recovery? Is there something I can do?

So duckling this morning is eating and moving around normally but not as lively as others. Still a little purple in beak. Why does that mean?

The trauma of getting stepped on could cause broken bones, internal bleeding, injury to organs - all kinds of ugly things. I understand that accidents happen, and these are some of the results of accidents.

At this point, I would just try to keep the little guy as quiet as possible, give poultry vitamins once a week, and just watch carefully. If possible I would get him or her to a vet for help.
