Baby ducks just hatched and not doing well...

I am sorry to hear that you lost one of the baby's - was it one with the yoke still attached? I had a very hard time keeping my humidity up also - the days here are getting hot and the weather is dry -I live in New Mexico so I get dry heat - which is hard on the high humidity needed to hatch ducks I am hoping that with chicks I have better luck since they dont need such a high humidity.

Sorry that you lost one baby. Hopefully all of the others will keep on keeping on.

I have hatched out chicks and quail before and had a pretty good hatch rate, I think. (36 out of 42 quail & 16 out of 22 chicks & only 8 out of 18 (bad first round, bad therm.)).

I just wanted to let everyone know that the ducks are doing great, we did lose 1 after about 2 hours of it being out of the bator (maybe I should have kept it in longer) we just took the last little one out yesterday and she is doing great, she was in for 48 hours after hatching. I had to cut all their cords but it pays to wait and let them really dry out. They are now the most energetic little things and so very cute. Thanks for all the support you gave me!!

glad to hear they are doing so well - now that they are up and moving around you are going to have a blast with them

my littlest duckling Uno had some of the cord still stuck to him for a few days after his yoke was gone but it finally fell off a few days ago - and he is totally healed up
