Baby ducks when to put out side.

I can't believe how many leaves came down in the night. There's one free range area, another on the lawn, and the duck area, they will free range when there older.

I put my then-four-week-old Indian runners outside two weeks ago because it was 90 degrees F outside and dropped into the 70s at night. Then we had a "cold" snap of 70s daytime and high 50s nighttime. Although I was worried that it was too cold and they weren't fully feathered (and I worry about EVERYTHING, by the way), they snuggled together at night and all four are just fine.

I don't really know how they rate on the duck messiness scale, but their cuteness probably makes up for it! A parade of runner ducks with their unique gait makes me smile every time.

I do feed mine inside because I have to be wary of rats who love any leftover outdoor food. I won the winter battle of the rodents and have no desire to see any of their relatives again.

Yes I had one run off rats two years ago they came from a demolished school, it was so difficult to get rid of them my rabbits built a warren under the shed, so the rats had a ready made home. I now have sleepers all round the base of my sheds and but all food in at night and have high rat proof buckets for the chickens. You can see a bucket hung up, I make most myself there always better than the shop bought.
