Those motion activated yard decorations that make noise work pretty good I've got Santa clauses, black cats, whistling gnomes you name it.The neighbors think I'm insane or way overly festive.

I have not tried those. I think both ways of thought are a win-win.

We lost ten nice hens one afternoon while I was at work several years ago. Neighboring workers saw it happen and did nothing, but at least we got the story. It was a sick mangy fox who was trap-wise, but was shot by another neighbor the following week. I visited everyone around our farm who had birds, and it payed off. That's been our only fox episode (so far!). I've got a very secure coop and run for overnight, or during predator alerts. Mary

It is a good idea but our neighbours houses are very close to ours and it would bother them. Great idea though.

Has anyone heard of the special fox sound things? Apparently it makes a sound that we can't hear but foxes, dogs, and cats can. I'm getting desperate here.

Are you talking about the fox calls that sound like a wild rabbit in distress? They work. My husband got one and headed out to the deck to practice sans gun. A couple of tries and he had a live fox right at the deck steps.
Someone else in the neighborhood got five foxes using a fox call. Unfortunately foxes are very hard to trap.
