Baby goats

Excellent advice from Cassie. The osmolality of your milk replacement may be too dense for absorption. Warmed whole milk is far better, the buttermilk and evaporated milk adds extra nutrition. The shivering is definately a concern. I would give a good antibiotic as soon as possible. Do not give much nutri-drench at one time, as her system will be overwhelmed.

Okay, so I thought she was doing better. I've been making the manna pro milk with the 1/3 cup formula to 1 cup warm water and feeding her every 3 hours on the clock. Just took her out to feed her, good appetite but she has scours bad, like literally dripping out. I'm trying to get with a vet but no luck so far. I did get the nutradrench but haven't given any yet

I have said this before. Some kids can digest milk replacers just fine and others simply can't. Those that can't get scours, or worse, bloat suddenly and die. There is no way to tell beforehand which kids can tolerate replacers and which ones can't. As for alfalfa, there is nothing wrong with it for goats. In California, goats are fed almost exclusively alfalfa because that is what is available and they do well on it. However, if you acquire a goat from an area where grass hay is the rule and suddenly change its diet from grass hay to alfalfa, the animal might have problems, but other than that, no. Goats can do well on just about any high quality hay. The important thing is that the hay be fine stemmed, leafy, and free of dust and mold.

I forgot to mention that you can give either kaopectate or pepto bismol for scours. My vet told me to always keep one or the other on hand. I have given it, on his advice, to baby pigs, lambs, and kids. Works as well as anything. You can use a syringe without the needle to squirt it in the kid's mouth.
