Hi! This little one just hatched like about 5 min ago. It is early as tomorrow is technically day 21. There is blood in the egg shell still and some weird looking stuff. The chick also has a distended rear end. Is this normal? Chick is acting fine, chirping up a storm and currently climbing on the other egg! Thank you for any help :)

The stuff in the egg is the yolk sac, and there is usually some left behind. The distended rear is where it’s umbilical cord was, and that’s normal. It’s common for chicks to hatch between day 19-22, and shouldn’t have any problems.

That's not the yolk. If it was yolk the chick would probably be dead. That is embryo wastes from throughout incubation. It is normal. This is it out of the egg. Notice how there are no veins in it.

Yolk would be full of veins. Also, they can't just "leave it" behind. It would either be not fully absorbed (but still attached to the chick's navel) or ruptured, and leaking everywhere. If it ruptures your chick will die.
@wyochick10 your chick looks good to me though. The little rough navel is fine. It will go down soon. Your chick is very cute, congrats!

Thank you :celebrate these are shipped eggs and now another is pipping! I’m very excited! The one that already hatched is huge though and I can already see a comb! I hope that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s a boy. Time will tell, in the mean time YAY!!

Awesome! Combs are usually visible right away. Nothing necessarily means not yet. (Unless they're an auto-sexing breed)
I'm excited for you! Pics when they hatch please. ❤

So here they are...Meet Fancy and Nancy 😁 I only had the 2 hatch but that’s totally ok with me! The were both supposed to be Blue Birchen Marans but as you can see I think I got a FBCM also!
