Please help I have a baby mallard he is holding head straight back to his back and not walking. He has been with his mother fine until today now he's not eating or walking. Please help

I have saved one that was pretty bad off.

I took a vitamin E liquid gel capsule for adult humans, cut off one end and dipped the baby''s beak in the liquid. I did that twice or 3 times the first day, by next morning it could eat and drink with help, and I continued the vitamin 2 times that day, and 2 times the next. Then it was fine.

With a duck, I would make sure to also give it some B vitamins. If you don't have that in liquid form, powder up a pill, and get just a bit of the powder in the bill, wash it down with a drop of water.

Try to get it to eat and drink with you fully supporting the head and helping.

Someone else mentioned Vitamin E.. It was too late BTW I heard that...then I forgot....I will try to remember.

Sounds like wry neck.... Nutridrench Poultry vitamins straight 3x's per day for a start is what I would use... then definitely Alaskans recommendations...

Yeah
..

Supposedly it is Vit E, B and selenium for stargazing. .I was just reminded today! :) I have never bothered with the selenium, but I think some vit. E already have some.

To be honest, I normally have so many chicks when I have one with limperneck,,I just send them to the chamber...I would not want to risk it accidentally breeding..

As cruel as some think it is I can't spend hours a day on one bird when I have hundreds to take care of..

I just have never gotten that nutridrench. but it would be better.

You should get some, serious... it's much better than that savachik stuff...

But Nutridrench is only good to use like that for a couple days, so it's more for the milder types of wry neck... Vitamin E capsules, B and Selenium for more severe and longer term treatment...
