i hatched out 5 baby peacocks less then 2 weeks ago,,well one of them has straddled legs (splayed)...i read about putting a band aid around its ankles and pull them and leaving about 1.5 inches between them ,,well it was making it almost impossible to walk ,,,does anybody have any other idea ,,,,,

help !!!

thank you !!

Here is a good link to how to properly put on the bandaids so the chick can get around. You can leave a bit more space between the legs so that he can move better, allowing him to walk. The bandaids only need to be on for a few days until he builds up enough muscle.

I have also heard of putting the chick in a shot glass or low cup for 15 mins or so several times a day to strengthen the legs.

Make sure to keep the incubator and brooder floors non skid. Use that rubber shelf liner or paper towels, things that allow for good grip on the feet. Newspaper is a slippery surface.

Good luck!
