Chick #1
Breed: Splash Australorp
Hatched: 5/4
Sex (guess): Rooster
Injury Description:
When hatched I did not notice anything out of the ordinary with this beautiful splash colored chick...until I took him out of the incubator. So, I put him with his hatch mates (6 not including him) and that's when I noticed he couldn't walk! He favors his left leg. He stumbles around the brooder, falls over, etc. Most of the time, he is just sitting sort-of lopsided. So, what I did is I lifted him up to examine his legs and put a band-aid around his legs (just below the hock joint) because I figured he had a splayed leg. His right leg will not bend (pretty much at all) and when I tried to bend his leg he chirped with pain. I don't know what to do with him; or for him. Does he have a splayed leg? I don't plan on keeping any of these chicks, in fact I hatched them specifically to sell them. Well then now for the next patient...
Chick #2
Breed: Speckled Sussex
Hatched 5/5
Sex (guess): Rooster
Injury Description:
When this chick was hatching I noticed he was struggling to push the eggshell (when he was zipping). I bought these chicks as hatching eggs, so I don't know anything about the parent flock. So, when I took the chick out of the incubator and put him in the brooder, he stumbled around the brooder (like Chick #1, just worse). Right now Chick #1 and Chick #2 are in a very small separate brooder. Both of them have band-aid (splayed leg treatment as directed in this post https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...ddle-leg-treatment.78240/reviews#review-47835)
After watching this video I've concluded that they both have curled toes and Chick #1 has splayed leg (left leg). So watch this video if you have a chick with leg problems!
I know this is more of a article, but if anyone has any more ideas that would sure help me (and the chicks)!!

Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
