We put 6 Marans eggs under our broody Cochin Frizzle and 3 of them hatched.

Mother is at the top of the pecking order among my three adult hens. Yesterday, mom and the chicks were in the yard when one of the aunts decided to go into the nesting box (the aunt is still has a slight broody tendency). One of the chicks also decided to go into the nesting box and then wanted to get warm under 'auntie'.

When auntie pecked the chick to go away, the chick made an extra loud peep sound and mother was there in two seconds to put some serious beat-down on the aunt! It was actually kind of funny to see and just reinforces the idea that you never mess with someone else's kids. LOL
