baby quail deniying to eat

@toastyes I raise Bobwhites and Kings. Here’s my suggestion. If you have Nutridrench, put a little in the water for a vitamin boost. Since there’s only 2, start them out on paper towels to avoid the possibility of them ingesting any bedding. I agree with @Huntmaster. Sprinkle finely-ground game bird starter on the brooder floor and encourage pecking. Make sure the waterer is shallow to avoid drowning. Monitor the temperature inside the brooder with a thermometer, and make sure it doesn’t rise too high or get too cold. 99.5 on the warm side.

Keep trying to get him to eat. Place the food on the end opposite the heating lamp, since you mentioned that he won’t eat under it. If the other one’s eating, he should want to peck at the crumbles as well. You really need to monitor the temperature with a thermometer. I use small digital ones, and I place them in 3-4 places around the brooder floor. I purchase mine in packs of 6 online. Vitamins (like Nutridrench or Save a chick) in the water should give him a boost. Guide him to the water and watch him drink. You can even help him by holding him beside the water dish and peck at the water with your fingertip. Monitor often to make sure he’s getting a drink for sure, but don’t force him to (he could aspirate).
