Baby quail picking on each other.

I have 15 4 day old Tennessee quail. They were all doing fine except for today. One of my baby quail was picked on so bad it died. I was in their about one of two hrs prior to that and it was fine they were all sleeping. They also picked on a baby call duck that was in there, but I caught them in time so they just picked at his beak. They are in box at the moment I was going to move them in with my pheasant and Peachicks, but now I am scared they will pick on the peachicks. I added some branches and leaves to their box and I will try to decrease the light.
Any other suggestions?

How much protein is their ration?
Might want to up the % by adding crumbled boiled egg yoke.
Once they get started it is hard to stop.
How crowded are they?

I give them purina starter grower and have mixed in a little bit of game bird chow. I have since decreased the light and moved them into my coal room and added some small branches and they have been fine thus far...fingers crossed.

this does not help at all but i have heard that tenn reds are the most aggressive of the bw varieites. I can't attest for this but it's what i've read...it says taht they are very unaccepting of other varieties and other brooder buddies. So it' sbest that you dont just incase (mix your peas if you can help it)

I had 36 BW die last year before I figured out what was going on. They were just attacking the crap out of each other. Use a colored light or even better a ceramic heater to keep them warm and let them deal with the natural comings and goings of light.

We have 4 Bw and 4 Tennessee red living in the same pen together and they have been fine. We are redoing our coop and needed some space, so we moved them into our pheasant bachelor pen and they seem to be fine. Maybe they are just aggressive when they are little. They thing is I really was hoping to hatch out some of the Bw and only ended up with one and the rest the reds.

It always ends up that way!
